Christmas Tree at Welcomhotel Sheraton New Delhi

Welcomhotel Sheraton New Delhi has reinforced its commitment towards a regenerative future

This Christmas tree is a tribute to the tribal arts of India. Local artisans have hand-painted traditional forms of art like Warli, Madhubani and Gond on terracotta tiles in an endeavour to bring together aboriginal and contemporary concepts for a mutualist future.

Welcomhotel Sheraton New Delhi has reinforced its commitment towards a regenerative future and was awarded a LEED Zero Carbon certification by USGBC. In consonance, we have chosen our Christmas Tree this year as a tribute to the Tribal Art of India. Designed by young local artists from multiple states, this hand painted Christmas tree is crafted using sustainable and recycled material reflecting the bringing together of aboriginal and contemporary concepts for a mutualist future.

Impressively standing at 9 feet in the lobby, the aesthetically crafted Christmas Tree is adorned by traditional forms of paintings like Warli, Madhubani and Gond tribal arts on terracotta tiles, showcasing skill and indigenous workmanship that dates back to the Indus Valley Civilization.

The entire conical installation showcases how we can interweave our daily struggles with different colours of love, joy and happiness, thus reaching the epitome of peace and harmony which is represented by the glowing star at the top.

On this joyous occasion of Christmas, let us join hands and share not only the spirit of abundance and glory but also share the spirit of our native cultures and heritage in our journey towards new beginnings.
