Union Education and Skill Development Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Saturday laid the foundation stone of academic administrative building, boys and girls hostel building, quarters and sports facilities at Central Sanskrit University (CSU), Shri Sadashiv Campus, Puri. He also inaugurated a three-day international seminar titled 'Balram Das's Lakshmi Purana: A New Discourse on Equality, Empowerment and Justice'.
Delivering the keynote address as CSU Chancellor, he said the Rs 100 crore projects launched on Saturday will be used to integrate Indian languages and Vedas with the modern education system. He said that Central Sanskrit University, Puri has made its own identity in promoting Sanskrit language.
Speaking on the importance of Lakshmi Purana, Pradhan highlighted how by assimilating the knowledge, values and messages of the Vedas, we can move towards social justice, women empowerment and women-led development. Lakshmi Purana is a devotional poem, which was composed by the great saint poet Balram Das of Odisha, known as 'Balmiki', in Puri in the 15th century.
