Center will provide drones to 15,000 women self-help groups

The Union Cabinet has approved the Central Sector Scheme with an outlay of Rs 1261 crore for the period 2024-25 to 2025-26 for providing drones to Women Self Help Groups (SHGs). The scheme aims to provide drones to 15,000 selected women SHGs to provide rental services to farmers for agricultural purposes during the period from 2023-24 to 2025-2026. In line with the vision of Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the scheme seeks to empower women Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and bring new technologies in the agriculture sector through drone services.

The scheme envisages providing sustainable business and livelihood support to 15,000 SHGs through approved initiatives and enabling them to generate additional income of at least Rs 1 lakh per annum. The scheme will help in promoting advanced technology in agriculture for better efficiency, increased crop yields and reduced cost of operations to benefit the farmers.
