NTPC Green Energy Limited’s 300 MW Nokhra Solar Project dedicated to the nation

On February 16, 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated NTPC Green Energy Limited's 300 MW Nokhra Solar Project through video conferencing and dedicated it to the nation. Located on 1550 acres in Bikaner district of Rajasthan, the project is part of the CPSU Scheme (Phase-2), representing an investment of Rs 1803 crore, which aims to supply green energy to Telangana.

Estimated to generate 730 million units of electricity annually, the Nokhra solar project will light more than 1.3 lakh homes while curbing 6 lakh tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions per year. Over the next 25 years, an estimated 15 million tonnes of CO2 emissions are projected to be reduced. Under the flagship Make-in-India initiative, over 13 lakh solar PV modules have been deployed in this project, reinforcing the Government of India's commitment to self-reliance.

As NTPC pursues a “just transition” by integrating clean energy sources into its portfolio, the Nokhra Solar Project stands as a cornerstone in the effort to reduce carbon emissions, paving the way to a greener and more sustainable energy landscape. It expands.
