Indian Coast Guard successfully rescues Indian fishing boat


Indian Coast Guard (ICG) successfully rescued Indian Fishing Boat (IFB) Rosary on April 16, 2024. The engine of this small ship broke down about 215 nautical miles off Karwar in Karnataka. Indian Coast Guard Ship Savitribai Phule immediately responded to a distress call received from Indian fishing boat Rosary on 13 April 2024 and soon established communication with the stranded boat amid adverse sea conditions.

The boarding team from the Indian Coast Guard ship reached the accident site and tried to repair the damaged engine before the boat got into further trouble. Subsequently, the fishing boat was moved towards Karwar with the assistance provided by Coast Guard District Headquarters (Karnataka), in collaboration with the Department of Fisheries. Thereafter it was handed over to IFB Shri Lakshmi Narayan, who safely escorted it to Karwar port.
