Two-day medical camp organized by Coast Guard in Lakshadweep Island


Indian Coast Guard (ICG) in collaboration with AIIMS, New Delhi and Union Territory Lakshadweep organized a medical camp at Kavaratti and Androth, remote islands of this Union Territory, from April 29 to 30, 2024. This camp covered about 1,500 citizens on each island and provided them free medicines along with expert counselling.

Dr M Srinivas, Director of AIIMS, Delhi, led the medical team, which included 15 expert doctors from gynecology, paediatrics, neurology, dermatology, orthopedics and other departments. This medical camp focused on providing super-specialist medical coverage in remote areas and helped the local people through consultation with specialist doctors. The expert doctors also delivered Basic Life Support (BLS) lectures to the local medical professionals to improve the standards of the available medical infrastructure.

The medical camp was inaugurated by Dr M Srinivas in the presence of Inspector General Bheeshma Sharma, Commander Coast Guard Area (West), Surgeon Commodore Divya Gautam, VSM, Principal Director (Medical Services), Coast Guard Headquarters and Health Secretary, Lakshadweep Shri Avnish Kumar, IAS.
