Sixth barge ‘Ammunition cum Torpedo cum Missile Barge’ handed over to Indian Navy


The sixth barge 'Ammunition cum Torpedo cum Missile Barge, LSAM 20' of the 11 x ACTCM Barge Project built for Indian Navy by MSME Shipyard, M/s Suryadipta Projects Pvt Ltd, Thane was delivered to NAD (Karanja) at Naval Dockyard, Mumbai on 29 May 24. The induction ceremony was presided over by Commodore Nadella Ramana, GMR, ND (MBI).

The contract for construction of 11 x ACTCM Barges was signed between Ministry of Defence and M/s Suryadipta Projects Pvt Ltd, Thane on 05 March 21. Induction of these barges will add impetus to the operational commitments of Indian Navy as it will facilitate transportation, embarkation and debarkation of goods/ammunition to Indian ships at jetties as well as outer ports.

These barges are indigenously designed and built under relevant naval rules and regulation of the Indian Register of Shipping. Model testing of the barges during the design phase was carried out at Naval Science and Technological Laboratory, Visakhapatnam. These barges are proud flag bearers of Make in India initiative of the Government of India.
