ICG rescues critically ill man off Gujarat coast

Indian Coast Guard (ICG) rescued a critically ill Indian national from Motor Tanker Zeal of Republic of Gabon about 20 km off Mangrol coast of Gujarat today, 21 July 2024. The patient had a very slow pulse rate and was experiencing numbness in the lower part of his body, which required him to be rushed for immediate medical attention.

ICG Air Enclave, Porbandar immediately dispatched an advanced light helicopter which reached the Motor Tanker Zeal despite high intensity storm winds, heavy rain and bad weather. The helicopter positioned right above the Motor Tanker used a rescue basket for evacuation of the patient. He has been evacuated to Porbandar for further medical care.

This successful evacuation underlines the Indian Coast Guard's (ICG) unwavering commitment towards maritime security and its readiness to respond in emergencies even under the most adverse conditions.
