Ministry of Coal is promoting social responsibility through its public sector enterprises

The Ministry of Coal, under the dynamic leadership of Union Minister of Coal and Mines, Shri G. Kishan Reddy, has been promoting social responsibility through its public sector enterprises and integrating it as a core element of its operational strategy. This concerted effort not only contributes to the socio-economic development of the nation but also reinforces the commitment of the coal CPSEs to be responsible corporate citizens.

Coal India Limited (CIL), its subsidiaries, Neyveli Lignite Corporation Limited (NLCIL) are engaged in community welfare work with an annual commitment of about Rs 800 crore for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives and are having a substantial impact. This substantial investment reflects the coal CPSE's commitment to promote people-centric development with special emphasis on health, education, skill development, environmental sustainability, women empowerment and comprehensive community development.
