Indian Coast Guard launches two Fast Patrol Vessels built by Goa Shipyard Limited

On October 28, 2024, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) launched two Fast Patrol Vessels (FPVs) named Adamya and Akshar at Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL). This significant event highlights India’s commitment to indigenous shipbuilding, as both vessels were constructed with over 60% indigenous content as part of a broader contract for the construction of a total of eight FPVs at a cost of approximately ₹473 crore.

The commissioning of these Fast Patrol Vessels is essential for strengthening India’s maritime security framework, particularly given the increasing challenges in maritime domains and the necessity for vigilant surveillance of coastal waters. The operational readiness of the ICG is significantly enhanced by these vessels, reinforcing the nation’s maritime interests. In conclusion, the launch of Adamya and Akshar represents not just a technological achievement, but also a pivotal step in India’s defense self-sufficiency and maritime security.
