Bihar got another AIIMS (Darbhanga)



On November 13, 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Darbhanga, Bihar, marking a significant advancement in the state’s healthcare infrastructure. This facility, with a budget exceeding ₹1260 crore, is intended to bolster healthcare services in Bihar, particularly benefiting the regions of Mithila, Koshi, and Tirhut, as well as neighboring states and even patients from Nepal.

The AIIMS will be built on a 187-acre site along the Ekmi-Shobhan bypass.  A super-specialty hospital with 750 beds, A medical college with 125 seats,  a nursing college with 60 seats and Residential facilities for staff and patients. In conclusion, the establishment of AIIMS Darbhanga is poised to be a transformative step forward for healthcare in Bihar, addressing both immediate medical needs and contributing to overall regional development and economic growth.
