This initiative is part of SECL’s commitment to First Mile Connectivity (FMC) projects, aiming to improve coal transportation efficiency and reduce environmental impact. The new infrastructure ensures precise loading, reduces underloading and overloading, shortens turnaround times, enhances coal quality, and decreases reliance on road transport, leading to cost savings and a cleaner environment.
Under the PM Gatishakti Plan, SECL has undertaken 17 FMC projects with a combined capacity of 233 million tons per annum. To date, nine projects totaling 151 million tons per annum have been commissioned, with the remaining eight projects expected to be operational within the next 2-3 years. The successful commissioning of these new silos at Dipka represents a collaborative advancement for SECL, Indian Railways, and coal consumers, optimizing logistics and promoting eco-friendly coal transportation.
