The upcoming plant, situated within the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) region near the Noida International Airport, will specialize in producing display driver chips essential for devices like smartphones, laptops, automobiles, and medical equipment. Designed to process 20,000 wafers monthly, the facility aims to manufacture approximately 36 million chips each month.
Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, announced that the plant is expected to commence commercial production by 2027. The project is anticipated to create around 2,000 direct jobs and significantly contribute to India’s goal of reducing dependence on imported semiconductors.
This development aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of an ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ (Self-Reliant India) and underscores the government’s commitment to bolstering the country’s electronics manufacturing capabilities. The strategic location of the facility is expected to catalyze regional industrial growth and position Uttar Pradesh as a key player in the global semiconductor supply chain.
