The agreement was formalized in the presence of Union Sports Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, as part of efforts to promote “Garv se Swadeshi” and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives.
Key Highlights of the MoU:
- Collaboration Focus: Joint research and innovation projects in sports science, biomechanics, wearable technology, and performance analytics.
- Infrastructure Boost: Inauguration of a state-of-the-art Biomechanics Laboratory at IIT Delhi, which will serve as a hub for athlete-centric research.
- Athlete Empowerment: Enhanced application of indigenous technology to optimize training, recovery, and performance monitoring of elite athletes.
- Capacity Building: Exchange of expertise between NCSSR scientists and IIT Delhi researchers to foster innovation-driven solutions for Indian sports.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Mandaviya emphasized that science-backed innovation is key to India’s sporting excellence, noting that this partnership would help translate cutting-edge research into tangible benefits for athletes preparing for global competitions, including the Olympics. The collaboration is expected to pave the way for indigenously developed sports technologies, reducing dependence on imports and making high-performance tools accessible to a wider pool of athletes across the country.
