Indian Railways achieved the target of 1154.67 MT freight loading by December, 2023

As compared to last year's freight loading of 1109.38 MT, cumulatively from April-December 2023, freight loading was 1154.67 MT, which is an improvement of 45.28 MT compared to the same period last year. Compared to last year's income of Rs 120479.3 crore, Railways earned Rs 125106.2 crore this time. This is Rs 4626.92 crore more than the same period last year.

During December 2023, initial freight loading of 138.99 MT has been achieved as against freight loading of 130.66 MT in December 2022, an improvement of 6.37 per cent over the previous year. Revenue of Rs 14574.25 crore was received from cargo loading in December 2022. In comparison, Rs 15097.61 crore was earned in December 2023. In this way, there was an improvement of about 3.59 percent compared to the previous year.

Indian Railways exported 69 MT of coal, 16.54 MT of iron ore, 6 MT of pig iron and finished steel, 7.23 MT of cement (except clinker), 5.07 MT of clinker, 4.26 MT of food grains, fertilizers Loading of 5.77 MT was achieved. During December, 2023, 4.33 MT in mineral oil, 7.70 MT in containers and 9.76 MT in other cargo were loaded.

Adhering to the mantra “Hungry for Cargo”, Indian Railways has made continuous efforts to improve ease of doing business as well as service delivery at competitive prices. The work of business development units supported by a customer centric approach and flexible policy making helped Railways achieve this significant milestone.
