With an aim to improve the lives of fishermen, Union Ministers Parshottam Rupala and Sarbananda Sonowal on Monday jointly laid the foundation stone of a project for modernization and upgradation of Paradip Fishing Harbor in Paradip, Odisha.
He said the Center has approved the proposal of Paradip Port Authority for modernization and upgradation of Paradip Fishing Harbor at a total estimated cost of Rs 108.91 crore with 100 per cent central financial assistance under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY). Collaboration with Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways under Sagarmala Scheme. The Fishing Harbor project is implemented by Paradip Port, which will be completed in one and a half years.
He said that this modernization of the fishing harbor will improve the lives of thousands of fishermen and allied workers who depend on the port for their livelihood. The modernization and value-addition activities undertaken under the above project will also create new employment opportunities of skilled and unskilled nature.
