Indian Astronomers map the Differential Rotation of the Sun’s Chromosphere using 100 Years of Kodaikanal Data

Recent research conducted by astronomers from the Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA) has led to significant advancements in understanding the Sun’s rotation, particularly its differential rotation patterns in the chromosphere. Utilizing over a century of data from the Kodaikanal Solar Observatory, scientists successfully mapped how various latitudinal sections of the Sun rotate at different speeds, providing insights into the complexity of solar dynamics.
