25T Bollard Pull Tug Yuvan inducted into Indian Navy

On March 12, 2024, the Titagarh Rail Systems Limited (TRSL) launched its second 25T Bollard Pull Tug, named Bahubali, as part of an order secured from the Indian Navy under the Ministry of Defence’s “Make in India” initiative. This launch marks a significant milestone in the company’s commitment to enhancing India’s maritime capabilities, following the earlier launch of the first tug within a very short time frame.

In addition to launching Bahubali, there was a keel laying ceremony for the fourth tug, named Yuvan (Yard 338). The keel laying is a vital step in shipbuilding, marking the official start of construction. Commodore Atul Maini, President of the Shipbuilding Sub Committee (SSB) (Kolkata), officiated both the launch and the keel-laying ceremonies, emphasizing the strategic importance of these vessels for naval operations.

TRSL’s ongoing project includes constructing a total of six 25T BP tugs for the Indian Navy, reaffirming the company’s role in India’s maritime defense strategy and its commitment to self-reliance as part of the broader “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” initiative.
