Air Marshal Nagesh Kapoor takes charge of Training Command of Indian Air Force


Air Marshal Nagesh Kapoor assumed charge as the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief Training Command on 1 May 2024. He was commissioned into the Fighter Stream of the Indian Air Force on 06 December 1986. As a qualified flying instructor and fighter combat leader, he has over 34 hundred hours of flying experience. In recognition of his meritorious service, the Air Marshal was awarded the Vayu Sena Medal in 2008 and the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal in 2022.

A graduate of the National Defense Academy, Defense Services Staff College and National Defense College, Air Marshal Kapoor is well prepared for his leadership duties. He is a qualified flying instructor and fighter combat leader, claiming over 3400 flying hours. Throughout his career, Air Marshal Kapoor has excelled in various operational, training and staff roles.

His diplomatic skills were demonstrated during his tenure as Defense Attaché in Pakistan. Notable staff roles include Assistant Air Force Operations (Strategy) at Air Headquarters, Air Defense Commander at South Western Air Command, and Senior Air Staff Officer at Headquarters Central Air Command. Prior to his current role, he served as Air Officer-in-Charge Personnel at Air Headquarters.
