# Says the state's future depends on cooperation, investment and development over political rivalry
Global peace advocate and founder of the Global Peace Initiative, Dr. K.A. Paul, has appealed to former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and his family to stop what he described as “corrupt and dirty politics” and allow newly elected Chief Minister Vijay to govern without unnecessary political obstruction.
Dr. Paul expressed disappointment over what he alleged were continued political attacks on the new Chief Minister even after the election results. He claimed that attempts were made to prevent Vijay from forming the government despite the people's mandate.
“Chief Minister Vijay met Mr. Stalin with humility and respect, yet the political hostility has continued. Democracy demands that the people's verdict be respected. Tamil Nadu now needs constructive politics focused on development rather than political confrontation,” Dr. Paul said.
He further alleged that Tamil Nadu has suffered from mounting debt, unemployment, inadequate development, and shortcomings in education and healthcare over the past several decades. According to Dr. Paul, the state should now move beyond political rivalry and work towards economic growth and investment.
As part of that effort, Dr. Paul announced a special invitation to Chief Minister Vijay to attend the Global Peace Summit* in *Washington, D.C. on September 24, 2026.
He said the summit would provide an opportunity for the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister to engage with international leaders, business executives, and investors to explore investment opportunities for the state.
Dr. Paul said that he intends to introduce Chief Minister Vijay to U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson, entrepreneur **Elon Musk, and other international business leaders with the objective of encouraging investments and supporting Tamil Nadu's development. He added that invitations would also be extended to the Chief Ministers of the Telugu-speaking states to promote regional economic growth.
Drawing a comparison with U.S. politics, Dr. Paul cited former President Barack Obama's decision to appoint Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State after a fiercely contested presidential primary as an example of political maturity and statesmanship.
“Political differences should not stand in the way of development. India needs clean politics where leaders put public interest above partisan rivalry. Professionals, educators, doctors, and honest public servants must play a greater role in shaping the nation's future,” he said.
Dr. Paul concluded by calling upon political leaders across India, particularly in southern states, to work together for development, investment, employment generation, and lasting peace rather than engaging in prolonged political conflict.
